The airfield had two concrete runways with a perimeter track, sixteen blister hangars, one Bellman hangar, ten aircraft dispersals, eighteen hardstandings and over two hundred buildings. This website features just three of those temporary airfields, RAF Hunsdon and RAF Sawbridgeworth, both in East Hertfordshire, and the USAAF Station 161 at Matching Green Essex. This airfield was built by the Americans themselves for the US Ninth Air force, and their twin engined B-26 Martin Marauder Bombers.
